DBS Staff Team: Silas, Amy Jessica, Tim
Hi Everyone,

Alright, as I gather my thoughts I’ll start by sharing  how I’m  doing personally. In my last update I mentioned my struggle to sleep, and the challenge of juggling my full schedule; I’m thankful to report that my sleep has been better of late and I’ve been intentional to take breaks and schedule time to rest. Learning how to let go of my work day and settle down at night or join in on a game is still an ongoing process.  Day by day as the Lord challenges me to trust Him with my time I’m growing to depend more on the Lord and let go of my need for control.

In regards to my health it has continued to be a struggle. This past week the shooting pain I’ve experienced going down my right leg has increased and now I’m also dealing with numbness throughout my right leg. I’m challenged everyday to do simple tasks like getting dressed and walking across the room. Pretty much everything causes discomfort. As my condition has worsened I’m choosing to seek further medical treatment. For this kind of sciatic type pain there may not be a lot that can be done, but I’m hoping I might be able to find some answers for what is going on. As of June 1st it marks one year that I have been dealing with this.

Yet…. God has been so gracious to me. I can honestly say that most of the time my heart is filled with joy as God’s grace sustains me day in and day out. I’ve been thinking lately how kind it is of the Lord to have me in one of the only job positions that I would want to do that isn’t stopped by my physical limitations. I live in a place where if I need to conduct a meeting while laying on my back people are totally understanding. I am so loved and supported on a daily basis and I am surrounded by prayer warriors that faithfully fight for me.
My God is so good to me and I’m so glad for his unending kindness in my life. I love the life I have. On Sunday night I feel my excitement rise for Monday morning knowing that I will have a packed schedule, full of things to do, some of which are small, some that are very significant. Regardless of how long my day is or how much responsibility I am asked to carry, my heart soars that Papa has trusted me with so much. Thank you all for being a part of this journey with me.

In my next update I’ll share more about the things I’ve been up too in ministry, but for now please enjoy the photos of the staff team for our Discipleship Bible School! I’ve also included a little video I made after I co-taught with a dentist on the value of oral health education in the mission field. The video shows the hands on part of the lecture when I gave the students some practical tips for teaching others how to properly brush their teeth.

P.S.  When I write again I’ll share a cool story with you guys about fruit and explain why we are lovingly staring at the orange trees.
